Just a few thoughts…

Chocoholic

Posted in Food by Katharine on March 30, 2011

oh my……………

I’m not a big fan of candies, but when it comes to chocolate… I just completely lose it.
But then I don’t care about those average chocolate, hated it every time I walked pass that Hershey’s stores on around Broadway.

I don’t know what it is that makes sugar and milk taste so much better with cocoa.
my favorite? Still those little milk chocolate balls wrapped up by a light blue foil by FREY’S

i waaaaaaaaaaaaant it now.
damn.

there’s a box of French artisan chocolate sitting on the table. It’s a gift from a friend.
I really should have waited until my mom comes hom to open it… but well………
that’s a bit asking too much.

Next trip

Posted in Uncategorized by Katharine on February 11, 2011

I recently began to plan a 3 weeks trips to Eastern Europe in September.
Ideally:

Copenhagen > Berlin > Prague > Vienna
and see a coupe of surrounding smaller towns.

I knew Scandinavia would be expensive. but god… I didn’t expect it to be THAT expensive.
I can hardly find a decent hostel under 30 EURO.
This realization lead to my registration at couch surfing.com

I’ve heard of this for a while, but never really consider the possibility of being part of this community until ….today.
well. we’ll see.
If i can get a place to stay for free through couch surfing,
then my september trip is gonna be ON!

Gosh, I’m broke.

True Blood

Posted in TV + Movie by Katharine on January 23, 2011

Years ago, before I moved out of New York, I remember the whole buzz about vampire just got started. I remember everyone was talking about True Blood. and I was like…. “what’s the big deal about it?” I tried watching an episode or two, but wasn’t too into it. Well…it’s the same old story… Human girl get attracted to an vampire who shows some humanity in him. He risks everything for her blablabla….

So I put it behind my mind for quite awhile, thinking I’d never be interested in this TV series with all actors speaking with the southern accent.

Somehow, I got bored few days ago and started watching it…. I think the pilot really sold it. Cause after watching that episode, I was so addicted…. damn it. The portrayal of Bill Compton is amazing, it is magnetic. I mean I’d die for that “look” from a guy.

It took me 6 days to finish watching all 3 seasons.
It felt sooooooo great. But damn, now I gotta wait till June for the 4th season.

For the record,
I LOVE ERIC NORTHMAN!

Maximilian Hecker

Posted in Music by Katharine on January 10, 2011

I was browsing through the website of Timeout Magazine (Hong Kong), and came across a short article about a German musician, Maximilian Hecker. His music was described as “airy pop” and “heartbroken fragile love songs”. Curious, and so I went to his myspace page and played a few songs.

I absolutely love his style. His tune does make your heart sinks. Beautiful melody… one after another. Some of his music actually reminds me of Iron and Wine.

Right now, I’m obsessed with the following tracks:
-Summer Days in Bloom
-Dying
-Miss Underwater

So beautiful that it hurts.

What he wrote on his website touches my heart.
“My songs are full of love, my life is not. But it will be – some day.”

It’s the spirit of after going through so much darkness, you still believe in the bliss from brightness.

it’s only the beginning of the month

So much had happened in the past few months: New job, new environment, new friends… I’m so glad to see these new changes. Everything around me are all very inspiring.

I’ve got a plan, and I’m going to make this happen.
This time I’m truly motivated.

Interestingly… I recently realized that I don’t like to talk about my work in details.

I was really looking forward to the trial and new development of the craigslist killer case.
So I could not believe it when the suspect killed himself in his cell awaiting the trial.

It was so out of my expectation.
I guess that happens with a lot of other things in life.

unexpected surprises.

strange things I can’t figure out

Posted in Uncategorized by Katharine on August 6, 2010

I’m glad that there are lots of people visiting my “sewing material in HK” post, as I believe what I wrote is helping the others (gosh I still remember how frustrated I was when I first began my search for sewing material in this city).

But what I’m puzzled is…. how come there are people coming from every part of the world? USA, UK, France, Australia, Indonesia, South Africa, Thailand, Mexico, Peru……… Why would people from Peru wants to know where to buy buttons in Hong Kong?

This is really curious to me… and I guess this is the little mystery that goes on my life everyday. lol
